Banjara Bags from Odissy Crafts

Banjara Bags by Odissy Crafts

Banjara a original tribal art is pride of nation. This art is coming from generation to generation from mother to daughter. But due to globalization and civilization in 19th century there is change in living of society and all traditional living changed. This resulted in change of traditional costumes along with traditional handicraft among these traditional handicrafts Banjara hand embroidary is one of them

Now a days this banjara hand embroidary is declared as languishing art. . The references are found in Rigveda, Yejurveda, Atharvaveda and ancient literature about this art.

Mirror work is the unique feature of Banjara handicraft. Banjaras who were nomads used mirrors on their clothes to protect themselves from the wild animals. When the wild animals saw themselves into mirrors they ran away. As they lived in the forests, readymade clothes were not available to them. So they used the old clothes and did patchwork to make new clothes.
Unique Identity of the Banjara bags is amongst the chief merits of the product. Intricate to make but looks awe-inspiring once they will be carried by humans. Hand embroidery done through needles crochet in ancient time by indian tribal artisans.
A hit with stylistas the world over, tribal bags have shot to cult status overnight. This large one-of-a-kind boho carryall has been expertly pieced together from a selection of rainbow bright vintage fabrics from India. Each bag is lavishly embroidered and beautifully decorated with beading, mirrors, tassels, shells, coins, chains and playful pompoms.

Banjara Bag is made from recycled vintage fabrics, each piece absolutely unique & a work of art in it's own right. A perfect fit for the current trend of the global nomad & all things boho luxe, these amazing bags have an enduring beauty beyond the whim of fashion.

Signaling their ethnic membership, all Banjaras embroideries are designed for a nomadic life style and, while featuring geometric, floral and animal motifs used by a majority of India’s village peoples, Banjara embroidery design is strikingly different.
